I agree with the size limitations. Even Vista is on DVD now days, not that we need to be copying vista by any means. Its just proven, software takes up more space these days, plus ubuntu is kinda skimpy on what it comes with, excellent choice of software included, but just not enough. Makes it hard for those without the fastest internet connection...

I would like to a larger iso than the default CD image. I think the size restriction is holding Ubuntu back. Many wonderful sugestions are made for Ubuntu but will not get implemented out of the box because there is no room on the CD. Could try 2 CD's/DVD/USB key, or whatever is best. People like the convenience and it does make good press having a complete OS on a single CD, but I think Ubuntu is paying a heavy price for the size limitation.

To address each of your points:
1. Pidgin is tried and true, with much support and a great interface for the most part. Many people are also familiar with Pidgin. A "fresh new" app is something very scary to anyone who wants consistency and stability.
2. Who knows! I know the code name is supposed to reflect the general "feel" of the release, though. For example: Hardy was a long term release, but Intrepid will be exploring new grounds.
3. Bundling closed source software that has no linux support is a giant no-no and against the Ubuntu philosophy relating to freedom and giving.
4. We'll see about the stability of KDE :)
(also, the cube is currently only in compiz, and KDE has it's own window manager by default)
5. The wireless drivers are quite excellent, and I think it is unreasonable to expect open source devs to support wireless cards that have no linux support and are not even a year old. Push for your company to ship linux drivers, or buy from another company like Intel.
6. Canonical is currently losing money, and has not turned a profit. Opening a store could bankrupt it. Also, there are plenty of Linux-related stores, such as System76 if you want a laptop with Ubuntu, Jamendo if you want music, etc.
7. Splashy already supports different boot screens. You can customize as much as you want already :)
8. Docks are a poor interface, even though they are shiny and pretty. Sorry.
