After the release of Ubuntu 8.10(October 2008), Ubuntu 9.04 is already scheduled will be 
release in 2009-april . And Jaunty Jackalope will be the next Ubuntu code name after the Intrepid Ibex . The goal of this project is for a better user experience and more improvements.

The other thing that will change in the next generation of Ubuntu after intrepid ibex is to decrease the boot and resume times. And the performance will be speed up. There’re still alot of plan that will be announced in Ubuntu Developer Summit, at Googleplex, California that involved Canonical employees and sponsored community contributors. For Mountain View, anyone from the community can submit a request to be sponsored.
