Hey! I’m back posting in this blog! I simply didn’t post because I had no time, sorry, but I even didn’t have time to post in my own blog! lol.. But now I have a few minutes and wanted to make a post here, because I hate blogs that never update! So I decided to make a favor to Jonathan, he has no time either, he has less than me.. :/ . Ok, the thing is that in karmic it’s so much easier adding PPA repositories! You can do it all, from adding it & downloading the pgp key with a single command. The command you gotta use is: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:REPOSITORYNAME. Now a simple example: (Program Used In The Example Is Ubuntu Tweak)
marce@marce-desktop:~$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix [sudo] password for marce: Executing: gpg --ignore-time-conflict --no-options --no-default-keyring --secret-keyring /etc/apt/secring.gpg --trustdb-name /etc/apt/trustdb.gpg --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv FE85409EEAB40ECCB65740816AF0E1940624A220 gpg: solicitando clave 0624A220 de hkp servidor keyserver.ubuntu.com gpg: clave 0624A220: «Launchpad PPA for TualatriX» gpg: Cantidad total procesada: 1 gpg: sin cambios: 1 marce@marce-desktop:~$
Then, to install the program, all we gotta do is type in a terminal:
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install ubuntu-tweak
OR use software center.. ![]()

Can you add multiple repositories ,like I want to add the repositories for banshee, mendeley desktop, dropbox etc..??
Can you use the same command or do you have to write a script??
Ok, that’s something I gotta research, when I know I’ll update the post and tell you by comment..
Do Asians throw hamburgers at their weddings since American’s throw rice at theirs?
Hy!
This is a great command, it’s more simple. Before I had problems putting a repository but now it very easy!
Have a nice day!
Thanks, and yes. It’s easy.. BUT IT WAS ALWAYS EASY! It’s just that people like complicating and editing everything manually, I NEVER edited the sources.list manually in jaunty, and had MAAANY 3º-party repos.. It’s just thing of going to: system>Administration>Software Sources.. or something like that.. xD.. then, in the tab that says “third party”, you click on add, put the repo url, and voila! does everything..
Can I simply say what a help to find person who definitely realizes exactly what they are sharing on the web. You actually realize how to bring a major issue to light and enable it to be important. Even more people need to study it all and understand this particular aspect of the story. I can’t believe you are not more popular because you positively have the gift.
