in Software,Ubuntu

enlightenment_logo_goldHello all, just like I promised on the previous post before regarding to the way to install Elbuntu. Enlightenment(E-17) is a window manager. Enlightenment is a desktop shell. Enlightenment is the building blocks to create beautiful applications. Enlightenment, or simply e, is a group of people trying to make a new generation of software. Now I’m going to show you a simple way to install Ubuntu Enlightenment. Just follow this instruction, step by step. If you encountered any issues/errors, please don’t hesitate to ask it over the comments form. Thanks.

1. Add the repos!

sh -c ‘echo “## Enlightenment e17
deb http://packages.enlightenment.org/ubuntu jaunty main extras” >> /etc/apt/sources.list’

2. Download and Import the gpg-keys:

wget -q http://packages.enlightenment.org/repo.key -O- | sudo apt-key add -

3. Update your repos!

sudo apt-get update

4. Install the Enlightenment:

sudo apt-get install e17

Well.. that’s all guys! As simple as that, you’ll get one of the most beautiful windows managers that I’ve ever seen. Afterwards, you can pick the enlightenment windows manager as your session on the login menu. Here is the screenshot of E-17:

If you need more themes & module, you can simply download it from here.

Just installed Enlightenment today, and what I LOVE about it is that on dual-head setup, you can turn on Xinerama, and unlike GNOME and KDE, Enlightenment allows you to switch workspaces on each screen independently, and you can drag windows across the monitors. AWESOME!
